How does climate protection through drinking water work?

How it works?

If organizations choose Gloovy Eco Gloves as a replacement for the current polluting disposable gloves, they will save a large amount of CO2. However, this was not enough for Gloovy. Gloovy compensates for its own remaining CO2 thanks to the 'Together strong for Zoba Meakel' project. In this way, Gloovy reduces its impact on the world stage to a minimum. Something we should all aspire to!

Glove support

Two billion people around the world do not have access to clean drinking water. Many families have no option but to boil the polluted water on an open fire. This creates CO2 emissions and, depending on the region, increasingly large areas are being deforested. By purifying water chemically (for example with chlorine) or mechanically (with water filters) or by making groundwater accessible from wells, these CO2 emissions can be reduced.

Strong together for Zoba Maekel

In the challenge-ridden Zoba Maekel district in Eritrea, where the effects of climate change and poverty are strongly felt, the Gloovy company plays a role in improving the situation. With a heart for sustainability and social welfare, Gloovy has decided to commit to the project aimed at restoring non-functioning boreholes and improving access to clean drinking water.

Contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

(3) Good Health and Wellbeing
Having access to safe and clean drinking water, without having to pre-boil water before drinking it, improves the livelihoods of local communities, and reduces the risk of becoming ill from air or water pollution.
(5) Gender equality
Since the water does not have to be boiled before it can be drunk, women and children spend less time collecting firewood to boil water. This leaves more time to focus on work and education.
(6) Clean Water and Sanitation
By repairing and maintaining existing boreholes, local communities have free and long-term access to clean drinking water.
(13) Climate action
The project consists of several sub-projects. Each of these sub-projects contributes to the project's total annual estimated emission reduction (as stated in the project design document) of approximately 336,000 tonnes of CO2.
